Sarah Salway’s latest poetry collection, The Hands of a Gardener, is inspired by the world of Lancelot (Capability) Brown and the 18th century English landscape garden, but with a very personal touch. Unlike other histories, it looks at the women around Lancelot Brown, imagines his frailties, and also how the son of a woodsman ended up being the King of England’s gardener with Dukes and Lords as his friends.
