Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the eastern edge of the Weald of Kent, our lovingly restored home and garden has become a quiet haven for those seeking a sense of belonging in a place where nature and culture thrive.

We believe that the most meaningful moments happen at shared tables and communal events, where stories and ideas are exchanged with strangers who become friends

As a family home, Boldshaves only truly comes alive when it too is shared. We offer a year-round programme of events that foster those spontaneous ‘in-between’ moments where unplanned conversations and quiet reflections can take place.

We work closely with a community of authors, artists, local artisans and course leaders who share our preference for  organic, creative and human-scale ways of living and and the magic that happens when we are brought together.

The Journey So Far

What began as a family home and garden has grown into a sanctuary for hospitality that welcomes visitors and guests throughout the year - with retreats, workshops and gatherings that encourage time in nature and moments of shared creativity. Boldshaves continues to evolve, shaped by the same values that have always been at its heart.

Over the past 30 years, the house and gardens have been lovingly transformed by generations of the same family. Laura and Andrew are the current inhabitants of Boldshaves, hosting Wealden Festival each summer from the grounds and building a year-round programme of events, workshops and retreats.

The people behind Boldshaves

Boldshaves is both a family home and a refuge for people, nature and culture. Three generations of Laura's family live here, sharing the house and gardens with the guests who pass through. Together with a small team, they host garden open days, retreats, events and the annual festival - all shaped by the same sense of warmth and welcome that defines life here.
